11) roxanne shoot exdperiments

This was the first edit I did from the shoot. I feel I went a bit over the top with the editing in this photo. I wanted to make the editing really complex, but I ended up adding to many affects that didn't work well together.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This edit was done by using the magnetic selection tool to go around the model's body. I then dragged and dropped the cut out into a separate document to make it into a new layer. I then dragged the cut out back onto the original and moved it very slightly to right and lowered the opacity to 50% to create a motion blur effect. This time I decided to only move it very slightly to one direction to make it tighter and less noticeable.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This edit was done by using 'filter' > 'pixlelate' > 'mosaic'

I really like this effect as it breaks down and simplifies the colours in the image into square, similar to old gaming graphics.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The pixleate 'mosaic' filter reminded me of when people's faces are blurred out on the television when they don't want their faces shown. This gave me an idea to just pixlelate the face of the model. I like it because it's the face it what we identify what people look like, and how we judge them to be ascetically pleasing (attractive); so by pixlelating it, you're taking away that factor and leaving it more as a mystery or for the viewer to interpret.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To create this affect all I did was use the magnetic selection tool to select just her face. Then I went to 'filer' > 'pixelate' > 'mosaic' and chose the cell size of the squares. I wanted to get a balance between now being able to see much detail, but still being up to see enough to make out the features. The further you look away from it the easier it is to see, the closer you look the more you can tell it's made up of squares.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This edit was simply done but using a space wallpaper I got from a gfx pack and changing the blend mode to screen. I really like this edit as it feels very tranquil.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like this edit as it feels like a mix between going through hyper-space and a pop album cover. I think the pinks and purples in the burst compliment the colours of the original photo, although I think the bursts are too clustered and cover too much of the face. If I were to do this again I would use a layer mask first and try and blend the burst coming from the model.

Like so:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This effect was done by using 'filter' > 'distort' > 'ocean ripple'. I like this effect as it looks like the photo was taken behind a sheet of glass.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This edit was me experimenting using 'filter' > 'distort' > 'pinch'. I think this affect could work well on a landscape shot but didn't work so well with a portrait photo.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This edit was done when I was messing around with the clone stamp tool. I changed the hardness to 100% and then drew an exploding paint splatter.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This edit was done by using 'filter' > 'stylize' > 'trace contour'. I liked the dusty chalk effect that it gave but I don't think I'd ever use it again because little of the original photo shows through.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This edit was done when I was trying to add a smoke affect using an image I downloaded. I was experimenting with the different blend modes as the 'screen' blend mode didn't work, the smoke was too bright and not visible on the photo. I tried different blending options and the 'hard mix' blending option gave this nice neon affect on the model's jumper.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this an edit when I was experimenting using text in my photos. The name of the model in the photo is Roxanne, so I wanted to play around using her name in the edit. I really liked this font called '_______'. I thought the rectangular O could work like a portrait frame. I also only put half of the R and X in the image to make it less obvious and make the viewer look at the image longer to figure it out.
