14) simeon strips editing

This is me using the filter 'pixelate' > 'mosaic' to create a digital blurred out effect on the model's face again. I think this is the best one I've done yet as the contrast from the squares to the rest of his head isn't very noticeable. I also prefer the darker colours and mood of the image as appose to the previous ones.

This was done by using the magnetic selection tool to select around the model's face. Then I used the 'pixelate' > 'mosaic' filter and adjusted the cell size.

This is me cutting out strips of the model's body and using them to hide the face. I did this previously and wanted to try it out on a different photo. On a lot of levels I prefer this to the first one I did. I just love the colours in this shoot as they're dark and gloomy and have a background that his a nicer texture that looks more natural. I decided to place the strips on more of a cluster but still have them spaced out a bit so that you can see some of the model's head. I really like this one as it reminds of a mix between a glitchy cloud.

This edit was done the same as the previous one. I used the rulers (by going to 'view' > 'rulers') and then dragged the either side of the model. I then placed one at the bottom of the image and then one further up decided the height of the strips. I then used the rectangular marquee tool to selected the strip area. I then used the 'move tool' to cut out the selected area then I dragged and dropped it into a new document. I then dragged it back into the original document to make it into a new layer. I collected all the cut outs into a group to keep it organized. I repeated the process until I got to the top of the model's head. Then I re-arranged the strips to how I wanted. I kept the eyes fairly hid again to avoid losing focus of the whole image.

In this edit I wanted the image to look disrupted but not too drastically. I tried keeping certain areas of the cut outs near the areas they were from but move them just enough to notice the difference. I liked this one how the strips tower up the image, complimenting the stance of the model (base triangular composition.) The composition of these lines reminded me of a sound wave of an audio file which inspired my next edits. Example of audio files:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this one I placed the strips on either side trying to get an even amount of strips with the model on and some with the wall on so the composition of the image was even.

This one I used one half of the strips to create a block tower of strips coming from the left and messier one coming the right. I did this to compare each version and to show see which worked best or if they both worked well together. I wasn't as happy with this edit as I am with the rest, the strips are too clustered and doesn't show much destruction of the image.

This is my favorite version of my sound wave experiments. I used the same placement of the strips as a previous edit, I just duplicated the group and rotated them 90 degrees. I really like the symmetry in this image.
