I went out for another shoot around a car park and the abandoned building I visited previously. With these edits I was experimenting with different styles of colours in photos.
The colours on this photo were pretty awful, but I really liked the setting and composition so I did my best to revive the photo as much as I could. My friend is too dark, you cannot see any detail, and the background it too bright. First I lowered the saturation, then adjusted the brightness and contrast to make the sky and buildings darker.
I then drew a rectangle the same dimensions as the image and used a gradient overlay 'fx'
This lifted the image, maybe a little too much mid tone greys, but overall I think it looks nice and I am happy with the outcome.

In this edit I wanted to make it really dark and mysterious. I am very pleased with this photo as I think the setting really compliments the mood of the photo. I love photos where there's some really unusual scenery, or the photographer has made a normal day to day scene interesting. I believe I have managed to execute that well in this photo. I know that this is taken in a car park staircase, but that isn't obvious in the photo. Also I think that not everyone would stop and look out the window whilst coming down the car park stairs, usually really busy or in a rush, so I think it can connect to people who don't have time to appreciate the world around them.
I used two layers of brightens and contrast in this photo. This first one is to darken the whole image and the other is to add a hint of glow to one of the person's face and on the walls and floor.

This photo already had a nice affect with the hexagons, but i wanted to emphasise the sun coming over the buildings so I experimented using the optical flare gfx pack again. I think this is the one worked fairly well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is me duplicating layers, changing the opacities and moving them horizontally off centre to create a motion blur effect. I think this one works quite well, especially alongside the fisheye. It gives an earthquake effect in my opinion. I don't think this photo would be very interesting on it's own but using this technique it creates movement and makes the viewer look closer at what's in the picture. I think the black and white version looks better, I wanted to show both so you can see the comparison.

In this edit I tried to give the photo an old fashioned look.
I added first I added a noise filter onto the photo to make it look grainier and less clean.
Then I experimented using a photo of the inside of a tree trunk which I got from a texture pack, I later decided against it
I ended up using a photo of some crumpled paper as a texture instead of the tree trunk. This made the photo look worn and old. The most important part of this edit was trying to get the sepia effect. I chose to do it by adjusting the hue along with the saturation. The clothing the two people are wearing in the photo will be a big clue as to when the photo was really taken, but if I wanted I could do a shoot with people wearing old clothes and still make it look like an old fashioned photo.
