13) after exam edits

This is an image I took at the abandoned building I previously visited, but we had not found this part of it before. I really liked this image because it's a large empty room and I really like the lighting and the pillars all around the room. I also really like the hallway right on the far right hand side of the photo that isn't noticeable at first.

As I really liked the lighting of the photo I didn't want to mess about with it too much so I just made some slight adjustments to enhance the image.

I adjusted the levels as it gives me better control than using the brightness/contrast adjustment. lLevels allows me to adjusted the dark, mid and light tones in the image separately.

I lowered the saturation as I wanted as most of the image was grey apart from the green moss on the back wall and some of the graffiti on the window. This made them stand out less and blend in better with the rest of the photo.

I started experimenting using different filters to see which would work best:

In this image I aded noise and turned into to monochromatic so it would be black and white. I like the grainy effect it gives on the image and works well with the environment the shot was taken in.

This is me using the 'pixleate' > 'mosaic' filter. I think this filter can give a nice effect put doesn't work too well with this image as you loose all of the detail.

This version was done by using the filter 'texture' > 'stained glass'. I really liked this effect as it gave it a style but kept a lot of the detail in the image.

This is a filter I'd not used before. I went to 'filter' > 'stylize' 'glowing edges' and adjusted the settings to what I felt looked best. I think the filter gives as nice alternative effect to the image, but I'm unlikely to use it again is it's not very clean and a lot of the original image is lost.

As I was really happy with the space edit I did previously, I decided to further experiment with style.

In this edit I used a combination of three gfx space images. I changed the blend mode to screen on all of them and moved them around to see where they fitted best. I also changed the opacity of the layer with the planets on to 50% to help them blend in better with everything else.

In this edit I just changed the blend mode of the planet layer to screen and adjusted the brightness contrast to bring out the colours of the model and the planet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With this edit i decided to using layer mask so I could have better control of what was showing part of the space images were showing up on my photo. I added a layer mask to the space image and then used the gradient tool to control what part of the planets showed on the photo.
I really liked the faded effect the gradient tool gave on the image. I believe it made it softer but more powerful.

This is probably my favourite space edit I did out of the lot, mainly because it's simply and effective. I really like the deeper colours in this image, the other ones were quite bright and didn't reflect the outer space tranquility.

This was me further experimenting using the model's name in an image. I I chose to find a bold font that I could paste images into, I chose this font called 'lot'. I duplicated the text layer and the rasterized it, this turns the text into a shape which I can paste images into. I had the images i wanted to use open in another document, I selected one and went to 'edit' > 'copy'. Then in my text document I used the magic want tool to select the tex shapes and then went to 'edit' > 'paste special' > 'paste into'. This allows me to move the image around only inside of the shape selected. I then re-sized and moved the images to fit inside the shape text. Once I was happy with it i felt the text need a boarder so I slid the copy of the text across and it worked nicely with it on the of the images, also acting as a shadow. I think this could work well in a magazine article or front cover.
